Happy hour, day-part pricing and combo bundles

Take a percentage off a category on certain days and hours, or bundle items at a fixed price.

Two tools under Menu › Offers: price rulesthat discount a category or item during a window, and combo bundles that sell several items together for one price. Both apply themselves — staff don’t remember, the till does.

The scenario

Happy hour: 25% off all cocktails, Monday to Thursday, 5–7pm. And a lunch deal: a burger, fries and a soft drink for 12.00.

Happy hour

  1. 1Press Rule. In New price rule, name it Happy Hour. Choose % off and set Percent to 25.
  2. 2Under what it applies to, pick A category › Cocktails.
  3. 3Under Days (none = every day) tick Mon Tue Wed Thu. Set From 17:00 and To 19:00. Save — Rule created.

The lunch combo

  1. 1Press Combo. In New combo, name it Lunch deal and set Bundle price 12.00.
  2. 2Add the items: a burger, fries, a soft drink. Save — Combo created.

What you’ll see

  • On Tuesday at 6pm a mojito rings up at its discounted price on the POS and shows the reduced price on the QR menu; at 7:01pm it’s back to normal. Nobody touched anything.
  • The combo appears as its own item; ringing it up puts all three lines on the ticket at the bundle price.
  • Payment history’s Discounts filter shows every check a rule touched, so you can see what happy hour actually cost.
TipA rule discounts the price; a coupon is a code a guest presents. Use rules for things that happen by the clock and coupons for things that happen by the person.
