Sold out: hiding a dish the moment the kitchen runs out

One switch takes an item off the QR menu and the POS in seconds — and puts it back tomorrow with everything intact.

Availability is the difference between a menu and a promise you can’t keep. Every item has an Available switch; off means guests can’t order it and staff can’t ring it up, but nothing about the item is lost.

The scenario

The salmon ran out at 8pm, and the kitchen is tired of sending waiters back to tables.

Take it off, right now

  1. 1Open Menu › Items, find Grilled salmon and switch Available off. Several at once? Tick them and choose Make unavailable.
  2. 2That’s it. Within seconds it disappears from the QR menu (a sub-category left empty disappears too), guest orders for it are refused, and the POS stops listing it.
  3. 3When the delivery comes tomorrow, switch it back — or tick and Make available.

What you’ll see

  • In the menu manager, the item carries a Hidden badge and the sub-category header counts how many are hidden.
  • On the QR menu it simply isn’t there — no “sold out” badge — so guests never try to order it.
  • On the POS it simply isn’t there, so nobody rings it up by habit.
TipThe same switch is how a seasonal dish rests for a few months. It keeps its photo, recipe, translations and sales history for when it comes back — deleting would lose all of that.
