What keeps working when the internet drops — the Mac and Windows POS, and Android phones and tablets — and what waits for it.

Internet wobbles. A till that stops with it is a disaster mid-rush. The Menulisa POS app for Mac and Windows runs your branch on the computer itself, and from version 1.2.0 the Android app keeps its own copy too, so a dropped connection is an inconvenience, not an emergency.
Which devices keep working
- The main terminal — the Mac or Windows app set up as your branch’s main terminal. It keeps everything it needs on the computer and carries on as normal.
- Additional terminals — other Macs and PCs on the same Wi‑Fi. They get their screens from the main terminal, so they keep working as long as it’s on.
- Android phones and tablets on app 1.2.0 or later — they keep their own copy of the branch and keep taking orders with no internet, and even with no Wi‑Fi; every change reaches the main terminal by itself. See Working without a connection on Android.
- iPhones, iPads and browsers run the live POS and need the internet. Without it they show a clear no-connection screen and reconnect by themselves.
What still works offline on the main terminal
- Opening checks, adding items, firing to the kitchen and taking payments.
- Printing — it prints straight to network printers and to USB printers plugged into it.
- The Reservations page: seating, new bookings and changes.
- Payment history for today and the two days before — reprints and refunds included.
- A customer display running on that computer (a second monitor or a window).
While it’s offline an amber bar says No internet and counts the orders waiting to sync; tap it to see them. Guest orders and calls from the QR menu, the dashboard, older payment history and anything printed through the Bridge wait for the connection.
When you're back online
- Everything taken offline syncs up automatically, and the bar says Everything is synced.
- Each order is sent once, so nothing is duplicated even if it retries — and it keeps its real time, not the time the internet returned.
- Phones, kitchen displays and reports catch up on their own.
TipIf the internet at your venue is unreliable, make a Mac or Windows computer your main till and give the floor Android phones or tablets on app 1.2.0 or later. A POS added to a phone’s home screen from the browser still needs the internet.
