The internet drops at 8pm on a Friday

8pm, full house. The fibre goes down — the Wi‑Fi in the room stays up. Two waiters on Android phones, one Windows till at the counter as the main terminal.

1. 1The counter till carries on: opening checks, adding items, firing, taking cash. Every order is saved safely on the computer. Staff notice only a small offline indicator.
2. 2The two Android phones carry on too: they send every change to the main terminal over the Wi‑Fi, which is still up — only the internet is gone, so nothing changes for them. An iPhone or iPad till needs the internet: it shows a clear no-connection screen with a code — POS-NET-01 if it has no network, POS-NET-02 if it’s on Wi‑Fi but nothing answers — until it’s back.
3. 3The counter till keeps printing: it sends tickets straight to the network printers and to a USB printer plugged into it, the phones’ tickets included. Only tickets for a USB printer on another computer — the Bridge’s — wait for the internet.

• Everything taken offline syncs to the server automatically. Each order is sent once, so nothing is duplicated even if it retries.
• Kitchen displays and reports catch up on their own; iPhones and iPads reconnect by themselves.
• Payment history for the outage shows the checks with their real times, not the time the internet returned.
