Hardware & printing

What hardware do I need?

Menulisa runs in a web browser, so you don’t need special tills or boxes. Here’s the honest list of what helps — most of which you may already own.

The essentials

  • A device for the till — any iPad, Android tablet, laptop or desktop with a modern browser. A tablet on a stand is the classic choice.
  • Internet — reliable Wi-Fi. The POS keeps working if it drops, but you want a steady connection day to day.
  • Guest phones — your customers’ own phones scan the table QR codes; you supply nothing.

Nice to have

  • A kitchen screen — any spare tablet or monitor at the pass to show the kitchen display.
  • Thermal printers — 80mm receipt/kitchen printers if you print tickets. Network or USB models both work.
  • Waiter phones — staff phones for taking orders tableside; the POS adapts to a small screen.
Start with one tablet and grow from there. You can add terminals, screens and printers whenever you’re ready — nothing has to be bought up front.
