Cash rounding, locking a printed check, and each branch’s defaults

The Cash & checks and Branch defaults tabs of POS › Settings: what each switch does and who it applies to.

2 min read

Two tabs of POS › Settings decide how the till handles money and how each branch starts the day. Cash & checks is the same for the whole restaurant; Branch defaults is set per branch.

The scenario

You trade in a currency where the smallest note is 250. A waiter was caught voiding lines after the bill went to the table. And your new terrace branch should open on the floor plan, not the card list.

Cash & checks (restaurant-wide)

  1. 1Open POS › Settings and the Cash & checks tab.
  2. 2Switch on Round cash payments and type 250 under Smallest cash denomination. The line underneath shows an example bill and what it becomes in cash. Card and other payments are always charged exactly. 0 means no rounding.
  3. 3Switch on Lock check after printing the bill. Once a customer bill prints, the check freezes — no voids, discounts, comps, cancels or edits — until a manager with the unlock permission reopens it. Payments are always allowed, and the locked table turns red on the floor.
  4. 4Press Save in the bar at the bottom.

Branch defaults (per branch)

  1. 1Pick the terrace branch in the branch chip at the top, then open the Branch defaults tab. (With all branches selected, the tab asks you to pick one first.)
  2. 2Default POS view — Cards or Floor plan: what the till shows when it opens. Choose Floor plan.
  3. 3Table prefix seeds new table numbering; Receipt prefix replaces the “MF” part of new order numbers, so each branch’s receipts are easy to tell apart.
  4. 4Require an open shift — staff must open a cash-drawer shift before taking orders or payments, so every sale lands on a shift and the drawer reconciles.
  5. 5Press Save.
TipRounding is recorded on each order, so the daily close matches the cash you actually took — see Cash rounding.
