Running a waitlist on a busy night
Quote a wait, keep the queue honest, and seat the next party the moment a table frees.
1 min read
The waitlist is the queue of people standing at the door right now. It lives beside reservations so the host sees who’s booked and who’s waiting in one view.
The scenario
Friday 8pm, full. A couple walks in. You reckon twenty minutes.
Do it
- 1Press Add to waitlist: name, Party size 2, and in the note quoted 20 min. Press Add — you’ll see Added to waitlist.
- 2The Waitlist card numbers them in the order they arrived and shows how long each has waited — what you glance at when the next couple asks.
- 3T3 pays and leaves. Tap the couple on the waitlist and choose Seat — pick T3 — and their check opens.
TipWrite the quoted time in the note. When the couple asks “how much longer?”, the host reads it back instead of guessing — and a queue where everyone gets a straight answer is a queue that stays.
