Receipts: which printer, what language, what it says at the bottom
Pick the default receipt printer, set the language, write the footer, and know where staff reprint one.

Customer receipts and kitchen tickets are different animals. Tickets go where the station says; receipts go to one default receipt printer, in one default language, with your logo and a line of your choosing at the bottom.
The scenario
A receipt printer by the till. Guests are mostly Arabic-speaking, and you want every receipt to end with your Instagram handle.
Set it
- 1Open POS › Printing. On the Printers & Bridge tab, under Printers, the first receipt printer you add is the default by itself — its Default receipt printer switch is on and locked. To make another printer the default, open it and switch that on; the row then reads Customer receipts · Default.
- 2Open the Receipts & labels tab. Under Receipt language choose Arabic. Staff can still print a one-off in another language from the receipt screen.
- 3On the same tab, the Receipt logo card comes first. Without a receipt logo, receipts print your restaurant logo (from Menu › Design). Upload receipt logo (PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG) to print a different one — a black-and-white version prints sharpest; Remove goes back to the restaurant logo. How it prints shows the logo exactly as the printer makes it — one ink, no grey — on 80 mm or 58 mm paper, with a check under it: Prints well, Mostly black or Nearly blank. Fine-tune with Lighter or darker (darker catches light lines, lighter clears muddy fills), Invert (for a light logo on a dark background) and Logo size, or switch on Print the name instead of the logo. Under it, choose what the header prints — Restaurant name, Branch name, Address, Phone — and, when you take a second cash currency (POS › Settings › Cash & checks), Today's USD rate: one line under the total on bills and receipts, like Today's USD rate · 1,310 IQD, so a guest paying in dollars sees the rate you count.
- 4Then the Receipt design card: pick a layout (Standard, Compact, Minimal…; tap one to see it full size), choose what the item lines show — Show item notes (off by default: notes are usually for the kitchen, whose ticket always prints them) and Show why an item is free (on by default; “FREE” always prints) — and type the Footer message — Thank you! Follow us @yourhandle. Empty means a plain “Thank you”. Save with the bar’s Save changes.
What you’ll see
- After a payment the POS offers Print receipt — or prints the receipt by itself, if Print receipts automatically is on (see the next guide). Later, from Payment history, View receipt shows it again and reprints it.
- Deleting the default printer warns you which printer becomes the default instead — a branch with receipt printers always has one.
- Two floors, one cash drawer? Give each upstairs terminal its own printer: on the POS ≡ › Settings › Receipt printer, in POS › Devices (the terminal’s menu › Receipt printer…), or tick it under Screens that print here on the upstairs printer. Its bills and receipts print there, and the drawer downstairs stays shut for cash taken upstairs. The Prints for column on POS › Printing shows who prints where.
- A logo that won’t print well — a full colour square, say — shows This logo won’t print well with two ways out: Upload black-and-white version or Print the name instead. A logo the printer can’t print at all prints your restaurant name in its place, never a black block. The main terminal keeps the receipt logo for printing offline.
TipKeep the footer to one line. A receipt is read for its total and kept for its date — the handle is a bonus, not a brochure.
