Splitting a bill three ways at once

By item, equally and by amount — on the same table, in whatever order the guests decide.

1 min read

Real tables don’t split neatly. The payment screen lets you take any amount by any method until the balance is zero, so “I’ll get the steak, you two split the rest” is three taps, not a calculator.

The scenario

Table 9, four friends, bill 180.00. Nadia wants to pay for her own steak (65.00). The other three split what’s left equally. One of them only has cash.

Take it

  1. 1Open T9 and press Pay. Choose Split by item, put Nadia’s steak on this bill, and take 65.00 on card. The balance drops to 115.00.
  2. 2Choose Split equally and set Split between 3 guests. Each share is 38.33 (the last one picks up the rounding cent). The buttons read Charge guest 1 · 38.33, and so on.
  3. 3Take guest 1 and guest 2 on card. For guest 3 choose Cash and type what they handed you into Cash tendered — 40. The screen shows Change 1.67.
  4. 4Balance reaches 0.00; the check settles and the table frees.

Other ways to split

  • Full — one payment for everything.
  • Any amount — leave Full selected and change the Amount: “put 50 on this card and I’ll do the rest later.” The check stays open with the remaining balance.
  • Add tip — a preset or a typed amount on any payment; tracked per payment and reported per shift.
TipYou can mix all of these on one table. The screen only cares that the balance ends at zero — how it got there is up to the guests.
