Cash in, cash out, payout, drop
The four movements that aren’t sales, and which one to use when the courier wants paying.
1 min read
Sales go into the drawer by themselves. Everything else — change from the safe, a supplier paid in cash, moving a bundle of notes out mid-rush — is a movement you record so the close still adds up.
The four, in the product’s own words
- Cash in — add cash that isn’t a sale: change from the safe, a float top-up.
- Cash out — remove cash that isn’t an expense: an owner draw, a change swap.
- Payout — pay an expense straight from the drawer: a supplier, a courier.
- Drop — move excess cash to the safe mid-shift to keep the drawer lean.
The scenario
2pm. The vegetable supplier wants 85.00 in cash. At 6pm the drawer has 1,400 in it and you’d rather not.
Record them
- 1Under Cash movements choose Payout. Amount 85, and in Reason (optional) write Al-Noor vegetables. You’ll see Payout recorded. It shows up as an expense, not as a mystery gap.
- 2At 6pm choose Drop, amount 1,000, reason to safe. Expected in drawer falls by 1,000 — because it really did.
TipEvery movement carries the staff member who made it. Use the reason field properly — Al-Noor vegetables, not stuff — and the Z-report reads like a diary instead of a puzzle.
