Cash, card, and a tender that can’t be used on delivery

Add the tenders staff see on the payment screen, decide which open the drawer, and restrict one by channel.

1 min read

Payment methods are the buttons on the POS payment screen — Cash, Visa, FastPay. Each has a type, may open the drawer, and can be limited to certain channels. Without at least one active, no payment can be taken.

The scenario

You take cash and cards at the counter, and a local wallet app. Drivers must never accept cash on delivery.

Set them up

  1. 1Open POS › Settings, the Payment methods tab, and press Add method. In Add payment method: Name Cash, Type Cash, switch on Open the cash drawer. Under Available on, untick Delivery — the hint says it: “e.g. no cash on delivery.” Save.
  2. 2Add Visa with Type Card. Add FastPay with Type Wallet. The other types are Bank transfer, On account and Other.
  3. 3Each card shows Shown on the POS payment screen and, for cash, Opens drawer. Switch one off to hide it — “FastPay” hidden from the POS — without losing it from past reports.

What you’ll see

  • On the POS, the payment screen offers Cash, Visa, FastPay. On a delivery check, Cash isn’t offered at all.
  • A branch with nothing active gets a warning: This branch has no active payment method, so staff can’t take payments yet.
  • Daily close and Payment history split by these names, so “how much came in on FastPay?” is a filter.
TipName methods the way the receipt from the bank names them. Reconciling “Card” against three terminals is a headache; “Visa terminal 1” isn’t.
