Logging the rent and the gas bill
Expenses outside the drawer — rent, utilities, repairs — so profit reflects the whole business.
1 min read
Cash payouts from the drawer record themselves. Everything paid from the bank — rent, gas, the plumber — has to be told to Menulisa, or your daily close will flatter you.
The scenario
The first of the month: rent 4,000. A week later, the gas bill 380 and a 150 plumber.
Log them
- 1Open Reports › Expenses and press Log expense in the bar at the top — it opens the Log expense card (already open while you have no expenses).
- 2Amount 4000, Category Rent, Vendor (optional) the landlord, Date (up to today), Note (optional). Press Log expense — Expense logged.
- 3Repeat: Utilities for the gas, Maintenance for the plumber. The other categories are Supplies, Payroll, Marketing, Equipment, Fees and Other.
What you’ll see
- At the top, This month with how it compares to the same point last month, plus Last month and Total (recent). Beside it, Where it went this month splits the month by category — which, most months, is led by rent. Click a category to filter the list.
- Expenses are per branch — switch branches at the top before logging one for the other site.
- On Reports › Daily close, the sales breakdown ends with Expenses and Net of expenses for the day. The Profit page doesn’t use them: its operating profit is revenue minus food cost and labour.
TipLog the recurring ones on the day they leave the bank, not at month-end from memory. Where it went this month is only interesting if it is complete.
