Adding a delivery platform and charging a delivery fee

Set up Talabat as a channel, connect it if it has an integration, and add a fee only delivery orders pay.

2 min read

A delivery channel is where an order came from — Talabat, Careem, your own drivers. Tagging orders by channel is what lets you see, at the end of the month, what each platform actually brought in after its cut.

The scenario

You’ve just joined Talabat. Their orders should show up as Talabat orders, and every delivery order should carry a 3.00 delivery fee.

Add the company

  1. 1Open POS › Settings › Delivery and press Add company. Name it Talabat.
  2. 2If the platform offers an integration, open the company’s settings and paste the API key they gave you. Tick Auto-accept if you want their orders to land on the kitchen without a tap.
  3. 3Without an integration, staff pick Talabat as the Channel when they key the order in, and type the platform’s number under Reference (optional) — 4821 — so it’s searchable later.

The delivery fee

  1. 1Open Settings › Branches, your branch, and under Custom fees press Add fee.
  2. 2In Add a custom fee: Name Delivery fee, Type Fixed, Amount 3.00, Purpose Delivery fee. Under Applies to tick only Delivery. Save.
  3. 3Dine-in and takeaway never see it. A delivery check gets it as its own line, so the bill and the report both show it separately from the food — and staff can switch it off on a single order, like the service charge.

What you’ll see

  • Payment history’s Channel filter shows just Talabat’s checks. Searching 4821 finds one.
  • The daily close Export can be limited to one of your Delivery platforms, so “Talabat did 1,200 on Friday” is one download, not a spreadsheet.
TipName companies exactly as the platform does. When a driver says “Careem order for Ahmed”, the person at the till should be able to type Careem and see it.
