A welcome code for first-time guests

Create WELCOME10, limit it, put it on a flyer, and honour it at the till.

1 min read

A coupon is a code a guest types. Unlike a price rule, which changes the price for everyone by the clock, a coupon is personal: this person, this order, this many times.

The scenario

A flyer for the new opening: 10% off your first order, minimum 30, valid for the first 200 people.

Create it

  1. 1Open CRM › Promotions and press New coupon.
  2. 2In Create coupon: Code WELCOME10, Type Percent (%), Value 10, Min order (optional) 30, Max uses (optional) 200. Press Create — Coupon created.
  3. 3The card reads 10% off · min 30 · Redeemed 0 / 200.

What you’ll see

  • A table's check is settled on the POS, so a guest shows the code to the waiter, who applies it as a discount on the check (up to the role's Maximum discount). The table QR checkout doesn't take codes.
  • Where a code is redeemed online, every limit is enforced at the moment of the order: switched off, past Ends on, below Min order or out of uses, the guest is told why — never charged full price silently — and two guests can't both take the last use.
  • The card’s counter — Redeemed 57 / 200 — counts redemptions of the code itself; a discount a waiter gives at the till shows under Payment history’s Discounts filter instead.
TipAlways set Max uses and a minimum. A code with no ceiling ends up on a deals forum, and the flyer meant for two hundred people reaches two thousand.
