How an even split works
An even (or 'tip pool') split shares all tips equally among the staff working the shift: total tips ÷ number of staff. If card processors take a fee on tipped transactions, deduct it first so the pool reflects what actually lands.
Other approaches
Some venues weight tips by hours worked or by role (a 'tip-out' to support staff). This calculator handles the common even split; for hours-weighted pools, divide the pool by total hours and multiply by each person's hours.
